Some 319 cars and motobikes underwent a free emissions test held by the South Jakarta Environment Sub-agency.
We urge them to immediately carry out routine servicing
Control, Pollution and Environmental Damage Section Head, Tuty Ernawati Sapardin said the emission testing targets were Operational Service Vehicles (KDO), Special Operational Service Vehicles (KDOK), as well as private vehicles, both two- and four-wheeled, powered by gasoline and diesel.
"It is held in the yard of the South Jakarta Mayor's Office, Kebayoran Baru and on Jalan Antasari Raya, Cilandak," she expressed, Monday (2/24).
Free Emission Test Takes Place on Jalan RE MartadinataThose 319 vehicles consisted of 118 units of four-wheeled gasoline-powered vehicles, 49 units of four-wheeled vehicles powered by diesel, and 152 units of motorbikes.
Unfortunately, the rest failed the emission test, consisting of nine gasoline-powered cars, 23 diesel-powered cars, and 37 motorbikes.
"We urge them to immediately carry out routine servicing," she explained.
Hopefully, this would improve the air quality in Jakarta due to the reduction of carbon dioxide levels.
"There needs to be a change in the mindset of people to stop using private vehicles and to use public transportation more, which is now quite good," she closed.
